I don't watch tv. we only got our first tv in 2001. i don't like it, it's a waste of time. i go on walks, read, spend time on the computer.

a guy told me years ago to live life. he said that no on tv watches tv, they live a life. good advice.

cute
i hope you disposed of that television properly and did not just thrown it in the trash with DR HQ's chicken bones and crusty hummus residue. two thirds maybe good sources of protien and i give you that, but the latter digital carcas proves to suprise even the elite sanitationary type. for that i give you brown wine. how did this happen?

One old grubby el-cheapo I've had since 2000, hooked to similarly budget-priced DVD and VHS players. No cable, no antenna, just for watching old movies. Wired into the stereo. Those Alas and Thor missles blowing up in the movie "The Right Stuff" look pathetic on my screen, but the sound can rumble the house.

A few years back the kids wanted an antenna, so I checked out a book from the library on antenna design, handed it to them and said "You build it, I'll help you put it up." They went back to playing outside and the book went back to the library.

My brother came over for the first time last weekend. "Why's the TV in the corner?", he asked. "Its in time out.", was my reply. Its my roomate's, and I don't like it. Its really big, the picture sucks, and you can hardly tell what is being said. I only use it for VHS tapes, and I'm not seeing many of those these days. I do watch DVD's on my laptop, as well as some TV shows that people were kind enough to put on the internet. But, I don't have to schedule my life around them, people don't try to sell me stuff, and I can pause it and come back whenever I want.

... And as for the destruction of household electronics :p Well, let's just say we might have a tradtion of painting old TV's, VCR's, computers, etc, and shooting, setting fire to, smashing them with axes in the safest way possible.

Why kill it? They'll repllace it with something uglier.

In 'Player Piano' by Kurt Vonnegut they rebelled and broke all the machines. Then started tinkering with them so they could put them back together.

We fired a TV out of a barn window during an acid test back in the day.

My cable got cut off a few months ago. Apparently you are supposed to pay for the "service" of having 15 minutes of advertisements for every hour of "entertainment" broadcast into your home. I thought they left the little box on the side of the house so you could hook it up yourself if you wanted to. But pay for it? Come on! I am far too Scottish to consider paying $60 a month for that crap. So now, my computer has a 32" monitor. Sure, if I sit too close I get a headache, but I can read my e-mail from twenty feet away now. The only things I miss are Hockey Night in Canada (eh), and the news, both of which I can watch on my computer. So I don't miss them at all, really.:)
