Don't know if you caught it, but the moon and Mars were in conjunction last night.
My brother-in-law pulled out his Celetron and I snapped a few pics of the moon with the digi-cam through the eyepiece.
Though a little fuzzy you can make out the rays of the Tycho crater. Very cool!

Named for Tycho Brahe, the man with the golden nose. A real party animal, he lost his real nose in a duel.

very chumpy barinsky...M43 is up and about in our part of the sky..soon as the moons runs away, and there's no limp excuses now the reflector-scope is outta the shed and on the balcony.

Named for Tycho Brahe, the man with the golden nose. A real party animal, he lost his real nose in a duel. The legend was that he died from a strained or burst bladder because he was at a party of the king's drinking heavily and it was not possible to leave the room while the king was still there. Turns out not to be true (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tycho_Brahe#Death).

Never heard the murdered by Kepler theory. I did learn that Kepler desparately wanted Brahe's data.
