Silva was always a one trick pony in Pride Fighting Championships. Standup headhunting (I don't think I ever saw him try to hit anyone below the chin when standing), and kicking people (again, in the head) when they were down. Does that count as two tricks, or one? Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want to fight him or anything. But his style was rather limited.
Ditto Hughes. Having wrestled for a few years myself, it burns me to see someone in full contact fighting basically just wrestling, with a couple of punches thrown in here and there. That is just weak. Any chimpanzee can learn a single leg takedown.
$40 bucks, eh? Almost as bad as boxing prices.

Respectfully disagree about Wanderlei. He is well rounded but preferred to swarm opponents and overwhelm them with aggressive striking (although he did choke out Dirty Bob in the 2000 Grand Prix) and work inside delivering vicious knees from the clinch. Kinda like how Tito has great BJJ, but only likes to GnP. He has the skills, but is bloodthirsty. The head stomps/soccer kicks were/are a quintessential part of Chute Box and I'm kinda glad they are illegal in the US. He shoulda worked the leg kicks more. Chuck won, but I give rnd two to Silva. That guy just cant win in a cage.
Nearly all of Hughes' wins are subs or TKOs. He's pretty well rounded, just not enough to beat St Pierre. I reckon you get into a rut winning in one manner decisively for years. Makes it hard to adapt to new styles. He'd a mauled Serra tho. That triangle to an armbar just looked painful as hell.
Wandy and Hughes always seemed to win despite holes in their games. Hughes isn’t too good at striking and Wandy is too aggressive. Regardless, it’s sad to see 2 great champions in the twilight of their careers.
Sanchez is unwatchable.
Gulliard and Clementi are unlikable.
Gamburyan is a beast.
You can find Hughes vs Ortiz, Hughes vs Monson and Ortiz vs Arona at the 2000 ADCC on Dailymotion. good stuff
$40 sucks considering you miss most of the undercard fights. Me and my friends rotate houses each month, bring beer and food and it doesn't seem too bad.

I've tryed, I mean I've tryed to get into UFC. I just can't it's a bar room brawl IMO. I'm not trying to start the same old "Any UFC fighter could kick any Boxers ass", arguement, but I'll stick with the Sweet Science. If it was truely "Ultimate" it would be No Holds Barred. Full on gladiatorial action. Anything goes. That's ultimate. Not what the UFC puts out. Boxing is boxing. It makes no claims otherwise. Two men throwing hands. Just my thoughts. I have been wrong before.

Different strokes....
Hell, Boxing neds fans too!
I for one really prefer the more wide open action of a good UFC fight.
I have tons of respect for Hughes, he owned the 170 division for a few years, and is a great (if a little limited) talent. But GSP made him look impotent, twice. WOW. I think George will be at the top of the 170 division for a long time. Sure wold have been cool to see Hughes crush Serra though.
Poisen I agree 100% with your succinct evaluations of the other fighters. Especially Clementi, what an ass. I was happy he won as I already didn't like Melvin (even though he is fun to watch sometimes) but when Clementi was talking sh!t in the post fight, baiting Melvin on I lost all respect.
