Took me back to my pond-hockey youth. I really miss swearing every time the snow built up on the ice enough to stop a puck like it was on sandpaper.
I also miss the pain only a puck can create on a cold-numbed foot...

I did catch part of the game. That fit my Texan's idea of what hockey is/should be.
Always exciting when the finish goes to a shootout. I hope that they do that again.
I think the NHL is still trying to recover from the last strike. I had been on my way to being a fairly dedicated hockey fan until the strike. This was really the first time since that hockey has caught my attention.

Awesome game. Kept flipping back back between that and the Missouri-Arkansas game. So good for the game. They should do that several times a year.

It was an awesome idea, and the foul weather added a whole big level of drama. I actually heard they're thinking of a Pens vs Flyers outdoor game in State College and Beaver Stadium next year. If so, I'm there.

the inaugural game was two yrs(?) ago, montreal in edmonton...you think they had it bad in buffalo...man.
word on the street is that it will be a yearly event, trouble seems to be locations to hold it...that ice in buffalo was pretty dern good, probably excellent by outdoor standards. the trouble is, someone with billion dollar legs could get hurt on poor ice...it needs to be guarunteed cold enough to schedule a year in advance. can PA do that? add to that a reluctance from many of the facility owners to 'lose-out' on home-ice revenue, options will be limited in a hurry.
a flyer pens game would certainly be worth the price of admission.
...is it me or is crosby toying with other players now?

I don't think the NHL has enough insurance (fire) to pull that one off. ;)
It would be great if they did, coz rebuilding State College Part II atop the ashy ruins of the original would take a while, and that would mean the trails up there would be less crowded in the meantime. :D

They actually had a pro game in Vegas a few years back. They said the ice was so so but the freaking bugs were horrible. If they can figure out a way to play in the desert then they should be able to figure out a few markets for a game in January/February.
I dont go to many pro sporting events these days, but I would make it a point to be at a Pens/Flyers game in State College. That would be nuts.
And yes...Crosby is the best player in the game right now. He is worth the hype.

Yeah, hopefully Cosby is the Pen's next human highlight reel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDX0pxdidB4).
(Note: I was at the game for goal #2 in the above-linked top 10 highlight reel, and I thought the roof was going to blow off the Igloo when Jagr scored.)

Doesn't speak well of your dietary habits. ;)
Too bad they had to resort to Cos schooling a gang of Juniors in a coupla those clips.
I'm dropping the gloves, and going for the knockout punch (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHJs3VqUpuU). :D
(After seeing #3, I"m sure Ray Bourque is still looking for his jock strap, or is that Jaques Strappe?).

All 30 goals were amazing. Super Mario, however, has done things for Pittsburgh hockey that no sports hero ever did before. He single handedly saved the franchise several times and now he is there to present to us the Sidney Crosby show for hopefully the next 15 years.
I remember at Jagrs height skill wise (probably early to mid 90's) he was ranked by Hockey News as the 16th best player...ever. I wonder where Crosby will end up on that list.

I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of a US Junior Hockey Organ Eye Zation. ;)

Crosby is likely the third coming. I would argue that his career accomplishments, on an individual level, will probably be greater than either Gretsky (as Sid is a way better two-way player), or Mario. Especially if Ovechkin stays healthy and pushes Crosby.
For the non-hockey literate think of Ronaldinho talent with the puck and the finishing of Wayne Rooney or perhaps Romario.
I also love that Jagr gets jeered and booed when he comes back to Pgh. As fans go, Pens fans have a short memory for those that abandon the Black and Gold.
Anyone else appreciate that the Pens were rockin' the old blue sweaters?

All those jealous inbred yinzers that boo Jager would do exactly the same thing, if they had the chance to cash in a payday like Jags did. But most of those hypocrites probably don't have the talent to ever get a better job offer than the one they're currently (barely) holding down, undoubtedly while they surf the internet on company time.
Jagr helped the Pens win their two Stanley Cups. He deserves some respect for that, IMO.
I don't begrudge any person that takes advantage of opportunities in front of them. God bless Jagr, this is America, the land of opportunity, and he cashed in. I have no problem whatsoever with that.
Of course, I could be wrong.
The yinzers may actually be jealous of JJ's cute-as-a-button girlfriend:

Jagr *spits* left town for two reasons: 1. Mario was retiring. 2. He didn't have the bollocks to stay at a franchise that was on the skids and be their torch-bearer.
I'l never again be a fan of his. Call me a jealous younser should you please. I do blame him for chasing the brass ring. He already had one in the 'Burgh. He and his other girlfriend, Marty Stracha, deserve one another.
Betcha Crosby doesn't leave unless the franchinse folds or moves *crosses hisself*.

Yeah, whatever doode.
I'm sooooo outta here, too much hate in this thread for a person that helped your team win two Stanley Cups. I don't care if the door hits my arse on the way out..... *ouch*
