I was lucky enough to get a new pair of knickers this X-Mas courtesy of my fiance. I had hinted I was looking to check out some Hoss products for a while and it paid off! Having ridden NEMAs almost exclusively since I made the switch to baggies in '99 I don't have much experience with anything else. I always liked the cut of the NEMAs, and the all around serviceability of the shell. Some of my oldest pairs are still clinging to life, albeit with multiple patches and some hurtin' chamois.
The first thing I noticed with the Hoss is how well they fit me. Following the sizing chart was a no brainer and worked great. This isn't always the case with clothing so I was glad to see it. No plumbers crack = good times ;) Another nice touch is the number of functional pockets, and the solid waistband clasp. I don't think this one's going to spontaneously break anytime soon.
I've managed to put ~ 6 hours on them this last week, and I really like how they were completely unobtrusive. The length is perfect in that it covers the knee just enough when riding. Other knickers I've had would ride up the leg, and I was always really aware I was wearing knickers. Even if they fit well in the waist it was a weird feeling. Conditions yesterday looked like 'cross nationals - ribbons of greasy mud cut into wet snow. Perfect day to ride some guilt free MX trails! These conditions have been known to show their mark on new shorts pretty quickly. After almost two hours of water, sand and muck the shorts showed no early signs of undue wear. I'm looking forward to riding with them the rest of the winter/spring season. I have a feeling they might be too hot come summer. On a side note I also received two pairs of the Hoss shorts, apparently someone is tired of patching my old ones....
