Guess Art reads a lot (http://www.artgarfunkel.com/favorites.html)
here are a list of favorites with a link to total list.
I guess he walks a lot, too (http://www.epinions.com/content_22544092804):
Didn't realize he did this.
In 1984, Art Garfunkel began a walk across America. Twelve years and 40 installments later, he completed it. This exquisite televised concert commemorates the occasion. Filmed in Ellis Island, with additional footage from Astoria, Oregon, Across America is a tribute to our country through the words and music of one of our national treasures, Art Garfunkel.

He has read some pretty good books (a slight understatement considering some of them are classics).
I also see he is a James Joyce fan which is a huge plus. "The Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man" is one of my favorites. If you are going to read any Joyce you should start with that one. Personally I'm saving "Ulysses" and "Finnegans Wake" for my older years.
"The Magic Mountain" by Thomas Mann is a totally, brutally tough read. I suffered through it in college and scored a D on the test. There are so many layers to that book that it is mind boggling.
I also see he is a fan of Sherlock Holmes and that is OK by me. I love that stuff.
I read "The Shining" when I was about 11 or 12 and it freaked me out. I need to reread that one of these days.
I never finished "Vanity Fair." I tried it twice.
I just picked up "The Origin of Species" at my local library. I have to see what all of this hub bub is about.
Several other of those books were required reading for me in college (I was an English major) and some were better than others.
One thing that was missing was fiction by some of more famous American authors. I didnt see any Faulkner or Hemingway on that list which I find kind of interesting. I also would have expected to see some William S Burroughs, Kurt Vonnegut and Ken Kesey on that list.
And no "Catcher in the Rye" or "Catch-22?"
I thought those last two were required reading for any self respecting hippie.

I love that guy. he gave me a bunch of music in PDF for free. Check the rest of his stuff. I'm working on Penny Lane now. I have that score but it's down the list and it takes a long time for me to learn a piece.
