A true classic in many ways. Not ashamed to admit that I'm old enough to have owned a C64.
I remember how wonderful spreadsheets seemed in the 1980s. Wow, I can keep track of my budget. And the softball team that I coached loved the detailed stats that I compiled, calculated, printed out for them.
Peek and poke.
We were po' only had a Vic 20. My lil brother still has it and all my games!:)

Yep. Had one. Bought our games on cassette tapes, for crissake. And wrote my first code on it...

No that predates the iBrick, it's the iBlock.

I still have one. Problem is, that the discs are kaput. I have to remember Basic to do anything with it. I take it out maybe once a year to play with it. When I see it on Ebay for over $5K, I'll put it up. :D

I had a vic20, a c64, a c128, and an amiga. The vic 20 and the amiga are separate issues, but...
The c128 was the best. They made virtually no software for it, but it was compatible with 64 software when running in a special "c64 mode". So, basically you started it up, typed in "go 64" at the command prompt, and had yourself an expensive machine that's only application was to cripple it down to a c64. Fantastic. And this company went bankrupt?!?!?!?!

Where do you stoke it full of coal?
Let me restate, we weren't poor, my folks are just a combination of cheap and frugal. They could not understand why anyone would buy a Tandy or an Apple when a Vic20 was also a computer...........and the C64? Hell, NEVER but the top of the line model!:D
But those games rocked! We still have our Pong system some where as well........had to go to the friends to play Atari........and the really well off pals to play Intellivision:eek:

wierd. The other day, I was actually thinking back to the day my Dad brought home the c64 and I was wondering whatever happened to Commodore? Bankruptcy, eh? Question answered. No need to google it now...

My first computer experience was around 1980. My school had 3 Radio Shack TRS-80's. One had a floppy drive. The other two used tiny cassettes. The first PC I ever owned was an IBM from the early 80's. It was the first model that they offered with a hard drive. I think it was around 10 MB.

Sounds similar to my upbringing. We didn't get a C64 until 1988. I think we got a Tandy 88 in 1991 or so. Luckily I had access to computers at school (AppleIIE in 1986 or so).

I had a c64 with the Larry Bird vs Dr. J basketball game. If you did a cool dunk the backboard would shatter & a little dude with a pushbroom would come out & sweep up the mess.
