Well I just picked up one of the Crank Brothers Cobalt ISIS BB's with the CrMo spindle to replace my old Race Face Signature ISIS BB. The RF has actually stood up rather well for me (better than many people have experienced it would seem) it's a few years old now, but it is feeling a bit gritty these days.

The Cobalt is sure incredibly nicely finished, and feels very nice out of the box. It has a very smooth feel with the cranks on it, it'll spin a few revolutions when given a push. We'll see it how it stands up and how their groovy external rubber seals stand up to my soggy neighbourhood.

It would appear that you couldn't use an e-type derailleur with a 73mm BB shell, as the instructions show that there is no spacer washer used with a 73mm shell, it's only used with a 68mm shell!?!

Looking at the Crank Bros. site the other day, I saw the Cobalt headset. Really cool looking in my opinion. Might be just the thing for the Merlin.

You can replace the bearing on the RF fairly easily as well, the trick is finding a better sealed bearing. I'd have bought an SKF but the entire planet seems to be out of the high quality XC ISIS BB's.
