With the holidays and lack of regular riding how many extra pounds are you holding?

hahaha
usually 5 or 10 i'd say, but this year i've been keeping in shape and i'd say 2 or 3, and that's mostly because of the increase in beer since there's less to do, not because i've been riding less

Truth. If'n I were back in the Frozen North it would probably be a different story, but I'm holding steady at my summer weight.
Sucks to be you, Dave. :p

I really need to drop like 20 lbs. Was really shedding some weight until the winter f'ed my riding schedule. No matter how much you ride you trainer, it's just not the same thing. What do other people do to avoid the winter weight gain? I'm thinking of going on Robcycle's all juice diet.

I had my semiannual checkup Thursday. Weight hasn't changed an ounce. Blood pressure won't cooperate, and my fitness has gone to shit because I hadn't been riding much, but I'm svelte as ever.

Man, I wish I only put on 5 pounds. 10ish for me... and then I have trouble taking it all off again some years so I've stair stepped up. Recent injuries has also been a factor. I'm now 20 lbs over my ideal "race weight"

I actually gained mine over last summer/fall, usually primo riding season where I lose weight. But last year I had a shitty job with a shittier commute (see my google pedometer thread) that put me behind the wheel of a dump truck for endless hours. I never really gained much weight, maybe 5 lbs or so, but I sure lost any fitness and 'in-shape-ness' I might have had. This winter I've been keeping track and have managed to stay the same weight all through the holidays. I recently went back to my old life working towards academia, so hopefully the more flexible schedule will help me get out and ride! My goal is to lose 10-15 lbs, get down near 160, and be a force to be reckoned with come Vermont 50 time :)

They're for us grownups, too. We don't burn it off as fast as we did, you know. And we have to pay closer arrention if we want to manage our health.
Now run along and play.

Same as Karl - usually 5, this year none. Very explainable reason though - two 3 day bouts with a nasty intestinal bug or food poisoning. That knocks of the lbs quickly.
