Quick question. Is it a bad idea to store my bike clamped into my work stand on the seatpost? I come from a race car background and we always keep the cars up off the ground to keep the tires off the ground and load off the suspension. But it seems like with a bike, that may be putting a lot of stress for a long period of time on the frame. Opinions?

That should be no problem. Welcome to the party from just north of you in Orange County.

either way doesnt really matter at all. tires lose air either way,and the suspension isnt affected either way. do what ever is easier for you. welcome to the party.

Can't see where it would hurt anything. You did say seat POST and not seat TUBE, right? Alot of tubesets are butted thinwall and can be deformed with the herking of workstand clamps.

Suspension? Not for me, but if you're worried about it, consider this: All those squishy bits are designed to take the impact of bike AND rider. I doubt the weight of the bike (25-30 lbs, maybe?) would, in itself, cause the pogo stick pieces any undue stress.

As to the issue of bike storage, personally I just throw mine on the pile. When the pile gets too big, I take afew off the bottom and donate 'em to the bike co-op.

I don't think it's a bad idea to keep your bike tires off the concrete. Especially for long seasons of storage. I've heard the concrete can suck the moisture out of any thing, even tires. I doubt most of us have this problem.
