I've taken the advice of other forum members and gotten one. I just used it for the first time and it does seem to work. At first it's weird, it's the same sensation of jumping into a pool the wrong way, but after a bit it feels comforting. I'll let you all know the long term effects and if it does a thing for my severe post nasal drip - I haven't slept properly in three nights now.

i hate to actually admit this, but i saw it on oprah. if she recommends it, it probably works well.

fwiw, I haven't really been taking great care of myself. I drank a few beers tonight and subjected myself to an environment of second hand smoke. If I actually sleep tonight I'll be surprised.

egads I'm sick of being sick though...

good luck with the nettie pot. In addition with to the nettie I found mixing some bailey's with de-café' helps me to sleep like a rock, so maybe the beer will actually have a pharmaceutical effect and kick you sicko-ness in the ass.

I used it a lot when I had the gack in my nose.

Works great and gets so much crap out that would have never seen the light of day.

You ran Bailey's+coffee through the neti? That'll surely clean it out! :D

I still haven't purchased a kit yet, but I'm now even more excited to do so. Thanks for the input, plume.

I love the Neti! It scares my children, it clears out all the dried up blood side effects the steriods create, and it feels good once you learn the right "lean,":Nasal Colonic if you will. Oi, it could be a Hebrew thing, I've always olonged for a kosher salt nasal irrigation route. Nintendo should make this a Wi Game.

best sleep I've gotten in days, still it wasn't great. Today I'm blowing off riding to sit on my butt and relax. Me thinks it's what I need. but yeah the netti is working great for the post nasal drip. I woke up early in the AM like I usually do and I did another round of it so I could sleep for a few more hours. The benadryl helps too.

I've been using nasal irrigation for a couple of years now. I used to suffer from chronic sinus problems-- debilitating sinus headaches, my molars hurt, and my face felt as if someone had hit my me with a brick.

I started irrigating regularly -- at least once a day -- and my problems were dramatically reduced. Now I just start daily irrigation when conditions warrant (high pollen counts, dusty rides, visiting smoky bars) and I haven't suffered the severe problems that I used to experience. On occasion I'll get a mild sinus headache but I've not experienced the facial and tooth pain that I used to.

You might want to irrigate after waking up in the AM and before going to bed. You could even do it three times a day until your symptoms subside, then scale back. (I started by irrigating as many as four times a day!)

I use 1/4 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp coarse sea salt in 8 oz. of warm (body temp) water.

Glad to hear that you're finding relief!

lol, not a traditional method, but in the springtime when I get all stuffed-up I use saline flushes. Its a 10cc syringe with 0.9% NaCl in sterile water. I carry them around in my pocket at work to flush and start IV's. It turns out that the barrel of the syringe is about the diameter of one of my nostrils, and 20cc is about all my nose holds. Insert, flush, rinse, blow, and I'm golden.

YMMV.

I'm a'posed to use this in addition to the saline aerosols for hydrating sinus mucosa. Gonna break out my old Medi-rinse kit and triple-distilled water.

Time to flush the gack (thanks Rock) outta my schnozzola. I gotta get it out. There is some bastardy rhinovirus setting up shop within my trachea. Coughing for the next two weeks will not do.

wow, I was wondering when the last time I got sick was, and I documented it nicely on these here forums! lol... I'm now convinced that the change in the seasons is what really gets me. I got the drippy nose thing going on again and had to use my netti pot for the first time since March - not bad for me. I'm feeling better today, had to leave work early yesterday. I went for a nice easy around town ride on the road bike and it was lovely. Followed it up with some light yoga/stretching - that's about all I had in me.

Looking forward to a nice long health fall/winter. I really have to suggest the Premium Insurance caps from Hammer Nutrition - they're a high zoot multi-vitamin with a lot of other good stuff in there. I think they've helped to keep me healthy especially on intense training weeks. big fan of Zicam too...

Just the wrong kind for "gack" prevention and cure.
