Just saw them. Him? Nah...them. My man Jon from Superchunk on the drums. But the first half hour was just John Darnielle all by himself and his guitar. Absolutely fantastic. Best I've seen them. And the most quite show I've ever seen in the basement of a church. The new Mountain Goats stuff is good, but the old boombox-recorded music is the best.

great band. prefer the older low fi stuff, but it's all solid.

on a side note
while in HS, i was driving home from a party, taking crazy farm roads through suburban philadlephia and saw a heard of mtn goats. it was incredibly cool. unsure if i was more buzzed up than i thought or if i'd actually seen em, i consulted a farmboy i knew who lived out there and he told me about how decades before some old fella had gotten some mtn goats and they'd escaped and lived out there ever since. there are still sightings now again, but with all the suburban sprawl, i'm suprised there aren't more.

Yeah, I dig the Mountain Goats. A friend burned me a CD about three years back and I had to listen to it a few times before I could decide. I was instantly attracted but hesitant, I couldn't quite tell what it was that made me question if I liked them.

The lo-fi stuff is the best, in my opinion. All Hail West Texas is a classic album. Every person I take to go see them is definitely surprised by what the show is, and what the band is.

And as for Poison Idea's experience with a real herd of mountain goats. that's too funny...I would love to see that around here. It'd make me feel better about living in suburban philly. And...Philly is where we saw the band last night.

Got 24 preference points. If I don't draw a license this year I go postal!

No clue about the music, but if I kill and eat one, I've killed, butchered, cooked and eaten every big game in North America. Not to mention small game.

I'm on a food quest. :D

elusive, yet tasty fukers they are. Ghostly like, like a fire roasted marshmellow.
