I had a Yeti FRO (same frame, cheaper tubeset and cream/black color scheme) from the same year and loved it. I broke it (in a wreck that cost me some surgery), and (since Yeti had just been dropped by Schwinn at the time), had to replace it with a homegrown (which had been made in the Yeti factory during that period). Man, I miss that bike. A lot.

Nice bike!
Back in 1990 I was debating either a Yeti FRO or a Merlin MTN. Opted for the Merlin, but still love the Yetis.
My one piece of Yeti memorabilia...Yeti key fob/bottle opener
Edit Add: I wouldn't say the FRO was made from cheaper tubing. It was aircraft quality CroMo! Tough stuff! I always like the oval top tube and one-piece chain/seat stay. Thought that was an interesting design.

Hi, I was just wondering about these legendary Yeti's. I noticed on an older model that the derailleur hangers are not replaceable. I really want one, but that would totally be a selling point for me. When did they start making the hangers replaceable. Cause I know in my history of riding bikes I have destroyed numerous hangers and I don't wanna see a frame get useless just because of that.

MM,
I am betting he is talking about the later FRO's that were a more "mass produced" frameset sold at places like Performance. They were made of a "generic" aluminum tubing as opposed to the Easton that the ARC's were made of.
If he did have an original steel FRO and broke it in a crash, that would have had to have been a magnificant crash!

It was the aluminum version (came with LX components and a Judy fork). When I broke it, Schwinn had just sold off Yeti, but they felt badly for me and warranteed with a Homegrown Pro from 1999 (which were built in the Yeti factory).
I'd love to have one of the ti frames from the narrow window where they built those, though!
