Anyone know what, besides drinking alcohol, could give you elevated liver enzymes? Had a blood test recently and my liver enzymes were elevated at 91, normal is like below 50. Have been drinking alot of beer in the past month. Since I got the results back I have stopped drinking entirely and will have another blood test in a couple weeks. Good news is my cholesterol was down.:)
Anyway, any info you guys got is appreciated.

Jerman,
Many things can cause elevated liver functions. Exposure to chemicals, alcohol, or liver diseases. My father died this last year after almost 20 years battling Hepatitis C. Don't mess around with this stuff. Make sure your doctors check you out thoroughly.
Let us know how it turns out.

Are you on any cholesterol meds? That'll do the same thing.

No, not taking any cholesterol meds. Will have to talk to the doc. Have only talked to the nurse and she was in a hurry when she called. Isn't health care grand?

Are you taking any other medications? If a medication is metabolized in the liver and your liver isn't working so well, it makes it much worse. If you continue to take the same medicine, well ... you know. Anyway, most of these meds will have warnings and the docs will require you to have periodic blood test for this very thing. As for pathological things that would cause it ... I don't know, but I'll look it up.

A brief summation, by no means definitive. Again, your best bet is to talk with the doctor or nurse at your follow up visit.
