Here's my wife's bike. A 2008 model Misfit DiSSent. This year, they come fully loaded with Shimano XT hubs, laced to WTB LaserDisc hoops, 9 gears (!!!!), and a Maverick Boinger up front. It is a fun ride. Any questions?

i think that's a cool looking bike. i like the maverick fork, on my spot 29er i have the white bros carbon rigid fork it's cool, but sometimes i'd like a fork like the maverick.

did it come with rise bars? i run flat on my 29er.

i like the black though. your wife is lucky lady, like moose's and davkatreb.

She had her pick of bars. Wanted risers, because that's what she is familiar with. Never had a 29er before either, so I thought it best to keep some stuff familiar. I rolled them back a bit, and all of the spacers are on top, just to keep the front end a little lower. Once she gets more comfortable on the big wheels, we'll change stuff up. Maybe a NuBar. I'm going to run a riser bar too actually, when my DiSSent arrives, but it will be carbon.

i run my stem in a negative rise with my flat bars, will you run your stem negative too.

i'm six foot, my spot is an 18.5, i had built between their stock sizes of 18 and 19.

there is a pict of my spot in one of the old posts about bikes.

i like the DISSents, they are good looking bikes. i will check into one of those next.

it's cool you wife rides like that too.

look at that fork and the rest of the setup, had to be over 15.

Yeah, over 15. The platforms are a concession to not really being on a bike for a couple of years. We have a 14 month old, and she wasn't riding while preggers, and the first year of child rearing has just been too busy. So, in a month or so I will pick up a pair of egg beaters for her, and get her clipped in.

Love the all black. Reminds me of my DB 29er.

26th...ish. Peter said he might deliver it himself to the shop I work at. The owner may start carrying the DiSSent. Mine's gonna be rigid, with White Industries goodies.

Lowers the highway tolls if they can't get a pic:cool:
If she does want to trade the fork, then she'll be trading with me. I will soon have a rigid misfit of my own, plus I have a steel 29er fork sitting in the basement. Sounds like your geary bike is starting to make you a little soft, Budgie.:D

I like it a lot. I even like the gears! To be honest, my new bike is geared and full squish. I have only ridden it a few times, but I really like both features. I have been riding a rigid ss off-road and fixed on-road for the last couple of years and I didn't realize how much I missed gears. I know it's not a popular sentiment around here.

I did put some fu2bars on it to help with climbing though. That makes me kinda cool...... doesn't it??

not weird at all... I will be putting a MAV in front as soon as I round up some money for it... I have two Misfit diSSents, one will stay full rigid and no gears (my black steed) and my RAW steed will get the MAV fork, she's got the 1x9 set up already, so ...

hey Lee, what size frame is that? I only ask as the 15 inch frames I haev can only carry one water cage... your wife's bike looks like it can carry two...

I've grown to love SS out of economic nescesity. 9 speed drive tranes were lasting about 6-7 rides:(. I've got a fairly new 9 speed drive trane on the FS Vicious which I'm trying very hard not to use. Looks like I'll need it for the Pa. forum ride.

I haven't really encountered a situation that my geared hardtail can't handle. As wigger says, it can be expensive to maintain - breaking deraillures, cabling, tuning, etc.

The Mav is buttery smooth, did I say that already?
17 inch frame; room for lots of bevvies, or water, I guess;). She's only about an inch and a half shorter than me, with longer legs, so the 15 would have been kinda cramped.

Now that the Alfine's are supposedly "trail rated"( to steal the Jeep motto), that will be a mod to the wife's bike the second the drivetrain acts up. Would rather have a Rohloff on it, but....$$$$$$$$$$$$

Be that as it may, Budgie. But if you come looking for me there, you will find me on 3000kgs of forklift. Better off staking out my residence.:D
