In the late 1980s I owned a Diamondback Apex mountain bike. I rode it for a couple of years. During that time I spent quite a bit of money on upgrades.
Then I needed some money so I sold it to a friend. I always regretted letting it go.
Today my friend called and said he would sell it back to me for $65.00.
I dropped by the bike shop yesterday and they had a set of Bontrager, Jones ACXB 2.1X26 tires that came off a new bike. I got a real good deal on them, and I spent several hours cleaning everything with WD-40 & 0000 Steel Wool (to remove rust & corrosion). Then I installed the new tires. Everything on the bike works perfectly.
This pic is before the new tires were installed. I thought you might enjoy seeing it.

Started riding on a Trek 850 that looked very similar. I even had a rack as well. Nice! Like that vintage brake set-up with the U-brake on the chainstay.
You might want to adjust your seat angle.

Slick pimp for sure. Love your racks. Anyone w/ a slick vintage bike like that would fit right in on our lewis and clark expedition.

I'm thinking about a new saddle. I'd like to get a Brooks saddle, but I'm not sure which Brooks (model number) is the most suitable for a mountain bike. I'd like to find a front rack (that looks good with the rear rack) as well.

Love that vintage teal. How's it ride?

It rides great. The frame is very stiff, and the handling/geometry is quick. No hands riding is pretty tough.

Put it in Bike Check.
Good idea.
Hey Swampman, I performed a bit of housekeeping and moved this thread to our "bike check" forum. I know the categories can be confusing at times, but the more you hang out here, the easier it gets to sort it all out.

I contemplated putting it here, but the only board activity seemed to be at the top. Oh well!

You will be assimilated, resistance is futile. ;)

Get a Brooks B-17, Sugar. You will not regret it. I will never buy anything else.
