I am interested in a Specialized HRXC, ill use it for a little of everything, including some intense trail riding...what is the general consensus on these bikes?

erm, I must admit that I didn't know BigS made a bike called the Hrxc till you pointed it out so my opinion is

questionable (on a good day)
based on the specs I could find
perhaps fueled by beer

Right, disclaimer complete....

you buying this new or 2nd H? I'm going to assume new (I may give you an op on 2nd H at the bottom if I'm still conscious)

BigS is a good brand
spec looks like vfm
BUT it's a 350 USD bike, which is a pretty tight budget, frankly
I'd like to have the energy to find more out about the frame but I'm going to take a leap of faith here .... you're not going to want to upgrade the bits.
Actually I did look the frame up. The angles look OK (73/70 s/h) still don't know much about the quality but bottom of the range is ... erm ... bottom of the range

My honest advice would be stretch a bit (<100 Bucks, which is, like, 20 Euros) to a Specialised hardrock (a wicked bike) or get a mate who knows his bikes to help you get a 2nd hand one because, at 400-500 USD, the value is definitely on flea-bay

OK, still conscious (kind of), I said I'd cover the 2nd hand angle...

If you're thinking of buying this bike 2nd hand I would think very hard about it....and then probably walk away.

The parts are very much budget end and (almost) made to wear out. Your mate / that dude in the paper will most likely be selling it on because he wants to upgrade and has worked out that it's cheaper to buy a new bike than to fix what has shaken loose / gone wrong (see my earlier comment about upgrading)

In conclusion (can't believe I'm still here....);

new; vfm if you really don't have more budget or someone who can help you search for a 2nd hand bargoon
2nd hand; take care. probably not worth it.

Hope this helps

, including some intense trail riding...

Do your self a favor and save up for a HardRock! The entry level is not that much more money than you're looking at now and is at least a "intense trail riding" worthy frame! The parts will wear out in a year or two depending on how much you ride but the frame will last you your whole life!!
