As some of you may know/remember, I and a board of directors have been working on a non-profit commuter bike shop here in Indianapolis. We are working on filling up our website content as we wait for our 501c3 status to come through the IRS. I'm most interested in getting writings regarding all aspects of commuting (and related subjects) to add to our "reading room" page. If this interests you, or you'd like to contribute to any portion of our site, please contact me and I'll give you the specifics for submission. You can check out our site at www.indybikes.org . Thanks in advance for your help.

here's some links for you:
http://www.bfw.org/new_bfw/articles/#commuting
the late, great ken kifer's commuting page:
http://www.kenkifer.com/bikepages/commute/index.htm
my winter riding page (general stuff plus a specific commuting page):
http://www.prairienet.org/~fishman/snowbike/index.html
icebike, general winter riding with a heavy slant towards commuting:

Attached is a text file of a short pro-bike commuting article I wrote for Environmental Resources, the student environmental magazine for the University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana). It's C-U specfic, but it's right in your neighborhood. If you like it I could tweak, improve, lengthen it, or it could just be left as is.
Ride on,

Scott, you're welcome to reprint any of my Brainfarts (http://www.dirtragmag.com/articles/page-farts.php?ID=89), as there are a number relating to commuting. You might ask Browne about permission to reprint other Dirt Rag material. We only ask that there be a reprint credit and a link to the Web site.

I just found another article I wrote (attached). Feel free to use it, though you'll probably want to edit the last paragraph.

OldSkoolTrack.com has some good articles that represent several different approaches to riding safely in the street, brakeless or no.
http://oldskooltrack.com/files/links.frame.html
scroll down to Street Riding Techniques and Safety.
Reading all of them (or linking to all of them, natch) helped me learn a lot about how best to ride safely in the style I'm most comfortable.
