Mixed feelings today. Sent my trusty Gary Fisher Tassajara packing. Wasn't sick of it, nothing wrong with it (that a tune-up and some new gnobbies wouldn't have cured) but I wasn't able to bring one more bike home without getting rid of something to pay for the new one. Hope the trade-off is worth it. At least I got the guy to agree to give me first shot if he ever wants to sell it (sound of DFH 60 minute opening here)...:(

If you ride a full suspension bike,it's always good to have a backup. Preferably a single speed IMO. Unfortunately, there's a lot to go wrong w/ dual suspension bikes. Good luck with that. It looks really nice.:)

Yeah, I'm kinda concerned about that too. This'll be my first full squish, as I've mostly been a hardtail rider. I still have my old, beat up Giant Rincon full rigid, and can't let my silver Hardrock go (too nice a bike, and got it too cheap), and I still have an old his & hers pair of Raleigh Sports, and among my three older sons there are probably six or seven more rideable bikes. Bike riding/collecting has rendered the garage useless for pretty much everything else, but that's only a problem in my wife's mind. I say as long as they all get used, bring 'em//dlr;)

Finally got the UPS drop. The bike beat Ike out of Houston by one day, and after that I spent several days tracking everybody down to make sure they weathered the storm ok. Now that all are accounted for, we built. Thanks to Fred and Dave at Blue Line Bike Lab for the great packing, but they could have come up with a less conspicuous box...still kinda funny though.:D

Thanks, Elaine, for letting me use your desk for a stand-she's very understanding. Picked up a nice set of WTB platforms next day, and went for a short ride to get the hang of things. Probably won't get up to Seven Springs until sometime early next year-too close to baby time right now (she's due in the next couple of weeks, so no trips farther than the grocery store) but I'm dying to try the suspension out. Only way to ride on the trail right now without bouncing is to lock it out, but it's kind of like having a hardtail and a full sus in one bike//dave

Like the new shiny a lot, but can't get rid of the old ones. Too much love for the scratched up stuff//dlr
