View Full Version : Night Crawling.
In viewing the onset of autumn, my yearly question/quest for a great night riding light that doesn't break the bank continues. I don't need to make Vegas look week, I just want to be able to see at night. Does anyone have suggestions or recomendations. Yes, this would be for trail riding. Can anyone help, or contribute. As always, everyone's replies are appreciated.

No personal experience with this one, but I keep hearing good things about the BLT Blitz as a head lamp. At around $US90, the price is pretty good, too.

Nite rider Trail Rat. Works good and can be used for either a handlebar light or helmet light. Price is right, around $100, but Performance has them on sale right now for $85.

Niterider makes superb lights, however, you are better off popping for the "digital" version of any light you buy from them - you will have better run-time and battery life. The original digital headtrip had some issues (like any first generation product), I would be wary of buying one used. That Norco product looks great.

The digital models are good, but Max is on a budget and for that, the Trailrat just can't be beat.

I like using a handlebar light with a flood light bulb and another light with a spot light bulb on my helmet. The two lights combined give obstacles some depth and allow you to see the trail right in front and around corners. Two Trail Rats would do the job if you swap out one of the bulbs.
FYI... I use a Niterider Classic mounted to my handlebar and a Digital Head Trip on my helmet. The Classic is over five years old and the Head Trip is over three years old. Both have had to be sent back to Niterider once but to their credit they've work great ever since. The other thing I like about Niterider is that they are at all the big 24 Hours events and will make on-site repairs if possible.
