Question-

I am planning on patricipating in a local Park Ambassator program. The training is put on by the county park system (local land mgt) This training encompasses issues such as land mgt. trail use, etc... Along with my CPR/ First Aid cert. would i then be able to become a National Patroler... I am working with the local club that has a number of ambassators but haven't started a NMBP... what would need to be done???

A NMPB was recently started in Pittsburgh. Not sure what you need to start a patol, but all the info you need is on the IMBA web site. but as far as individual membership goes, once you get certified, pay your IMBA dues, and buy some of the NMBP clothing, you're good to go.

The NMBP has a training program designed to certify mountain bikers to patrol. Most of the information is basic, common sense: don't be a jerk, work with land managers, etc. It addresses concerns that many people have regarding liability, etc.

IMBA has restructered their NMBP program in order to provide instructors and training at a regional level.

you can find information regarding PA patrols at:
http://www.imba.com/contacts/near_you/pennsylvania.html#rep

and information regarding NJ patrols (and certifed NMBP instructors) at:
http://www.imba.com/contacts/near_you/new_jersey.html#patrol

That should get you started and in touch with the right people locally.

If you have any questions, feel free to drop me an email through the DR forums.
