I'm REALLY considering writing a letter to the editor of The Oil City Derrick on behalf of the Allegheny Valley Trail Association. Last year they completed a good deal of construction on their "Rails to Trails" projects, but took a lot of flak from some local land owners that happen to hold parcels (primarily cabins and vacation homes) adjacent to proposed bike trails. The AVTA happens to be a land-owner, too, and folks that oppose expansion of (the already impressive) Venango County trail system are simply bein' selfish! It's not like a bike trail is loud (like a freeway) or attracts the wrong element (like a boobie-club or an adult bookstore....I'm NOT ragging on those places, mind you!). Bike trails attract families, nature-lovers, and folks that want to exercise. These, typically, aren't unruly folks. So what is the big issue, huh? I'd LOVE it if someone wanted to put in an asphalt trail past my place. Anyone have any pointers before I go spouting off? Yes, I know, keep it cordial (I can be a little abrasive at times, I am aware of this).

Any help would be appreciated.

Fanks.
