View Full Version : Good Morning.
Just an observation. Well too tired from drinking the night before, up well too early in the morning for the three S's, some coffee, and breakfast. Nice and cool on the way in, legs on fire due to a long trail ride the evening before(and drinking last night). Followed a garbage truck uphill for two blocks, made a left and cut through the park, jumped into traffic, which just flowed smoothly this morning. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hh, commuting in Autumn, I wouldn't exchange it for any bus ride, ever!

Lots of times I go riding around town just for the fun of it. Esp when the weather is soooooo nice.
It's also fun to do on a Friday or Saturday night when the high-school kids are cruisin around.

Passed an apartment building on the ride to work, today there was steam curling off it, it was a compliment to my foggy breath

Yeah, I love fall riding as well. The other day I was having lunch with my sister, brother-in-law and some other people when they made a comment about feeling sorry for me having to ride to work (I bought another bike instead of a car). I responded, "Actually, I frequently feel sorry for all of you when I am riding.". I guess it sounded stupid, but it is the absolute truth. Needless to say nobody took it well.

Maybe you struck a nerve. I can hear 'em now, talkin' behind your back.
"Yeah, he rides to work, and he likes it! What happened to him? Why can't he just be normal and get an SUV with $250+/month payments like everybody else? What a Dirt Bag!":D

What planet are you from you can't get an SUV for $250 a month...it's more like $400 or more and the bigger the vehicle, the bigger the insurance premium,....

Sorry Max,
When Angelo, Rotifer and I get on a thread, it tends to get a little off topic.
It's pretty much Angelo's fault most of the time, but don't hold it against him 'cause he has some great advice when it comes to women.
You never know when you're gonna need that kind of expertise.:D

Ok, back to commuting in Autumn. It is getting cold in the morning, almost time for a vest. One funny thing, I go by groups of high school kids waiting for the bus to take them to school. How many of these kids have a bike sitting in their garage? Heck, the high school is only a few miles away (maybe 4)! I guess they worry about their hair and such .. oh well. I've heard that cycling is a sanctioned sport in some California high schools, it would be nice to see it here as well.

Would it be cool if school kids organized their own critical mass, right during the morning commute and then the parents said, "I could do that..."
stop and smell the foliage!

The kids around here simply aren't that cool. How is the foliage in upstate? I heard on NPR that the trees lack a critical pigment this year or something, thus, the leaves aren't as colorful.

that might be true...but mostly we are a little behind (not that I have a little behind, I drink those feminine Black & Tans you know), but I can't tell if it is lacking anything, which might be due to the dry summer if we are...I will give you a foliage report on monday...after I do my miles for NGspeed
