My husband purchased me a 2002 CamelBak Mule. The dye in the back pack pads bled out and ruined two shirts during the past holiday weekend. I contacted CamelBak and their response was wash the bag and too bad about the shirts. These shirts were very nice and very expensive and are now permanently stained in a perfect pattern that matches the backpak. I believe this is extreemly poor customer service. I have in an email from Camelbak that they know the backpaks can and do bleed dye on occasion but they do not as a policy make it right.

Bummer,
They should have done something for you.

I agree packs are not like sox and underware you don't wash them before wearing. There was no way I could know the dye was in the shirts permanently. When you took the pack off it looked like heavy dust from the trail on a sweaty back - but not so.

When you talked to Camelbak and they weren't any help to you did you ask at that point to speak with a supervisor? If not, that might be an option that will get you some satisfaction.
I have a deuter hydration pack and I really like it. It's designed so that it keeps 85% of the surface area off your back--much cooler. I don't know how their cust. service is though. If you ever decide to get another hydration pack they are worth a look.

i never thought about customer service having a supervisor. Deuter is a hydration system I have not heard of. I do not know if it is carried in Oregon or not I will look into it Thank You. I washed the bad Camelbak in the washing machine it floated and was a real pain to wash and then used it today it did not nail my shirt today.

Divscotty,
Deuter is definetly hard to come by. Even places that carry them here in MT usually don't have any on the shelves-you might have to ask. Anyway since you didn't get another shirt ruined after the washing, it sounds like your problem is solved. Hope you had some good riding this past weekend. It rained hard here in Kalispell all day Sat. and part of Sunday, so I had to stay off the trails. Got in a good run Sunday with a nice bunch of runners.
Cheers

Oh yea the ride was terrific. It was sprinkling when we left the house. When we got to the trail it was sunny and the tunderstorms parted around us while we rode - until we got right to the car and while we were buttoning up the bikes presto thunder and rain! It poured on the way home and then dried up while we put the bikes away. I had a great time - but seemed like I just didn't have the legs for it. I've been loosing weight and I may not have eaten properly before the ride and the first 2.75 miles was up and parts very steep. only endoed once and no blood. cannot ask for more.

Cool. sounds like fun.
Hope the weather gets better here soon. The trails are really muddy.
