speaking of...what is the color scheme for the SISS? a non-biking friend of mine who was checking out my CUSS and my friends BASS asked "do they always come in such hideous color schemes?". i had nothing to respond wtih but yes. although the DISS was pretty badass with its black style...although it seems wrong not looking as horrid as it possibly can.

Ah, the SISS. We have a few of them over at Dirt Rag. Got one for test, and then a few of us bought personal ones. They are all made of steel this year, have Avid mechanical discs front and back, and are primer grey. Come with a Spot Brand rear disc hub, WTB front disc hub, WTB rims and black spokes, Titec stem, bar and seatpost, WTB saddle, Titec polished ISIS drive cranks with bashring. And I guess that really covers it. Nice bike. I took my maiden voyage on it last night around town to my girlfriends house, and it was quite enjoyable. In a few minutes its off to class atop the SISS.

Later.

Yeah... but I think Home Depot might be having a perpetual sale on that "celeste green" that Bianchi's famous for....

For a moment there, on my crappy little laptop, it looked celeste. Be still my roadie heart.

Not too much rake on that fork, is there?

Is the S.I.S.S. sporting an eccentric bottom bracket? Also, what does that mother weigh? Damn that is one fine bike...where can i get some detailed specs?

There are 3 Sheldons in Co springs. Whats good on the menu?

One more question for you Woog
I am 6'1 185
looking at the bianchi
would you suggest the 19.5" or 21.5"
Both my other bikes are 19.5" a old trek 850(just got it powdercoated:D
and my giant rainer

TT length is nearly identical on both sizes (596mm on the 19.5 and 598mm on the 21.5). That's what you need to go with. Assuming your current rides fit and that's about what you've got on them, I'd go with the smaller frame. Less weight, less flex, and quicker. Take one of your other bikes to whatever lbs you're buying through. They should be able to give you better advice.

I did see someone on MTBR SS complaining about the SISS paint. No clearcoat = less durability.

Yeah i saw that too about the paint, i wonder why bianchi did that

Yup, it chips very easy and looks pretty heinous when it does. So, leapfrog, if you play your cards right, it WILL become ugly enough for you!

My SISS is getting its fair share of battle scars already so I must agree that the paint is not the greatest I have ever seen. I'm guessing I'll have to repaint it by spring...

I'm 6'2 with a 34in inseam and ride the 19.5in frame for those trying to figure out what they want. It fits pretty much the same as my 18in Surly 1x1 albeit with a lower BB and some other geometry differences.

Music to my ears. You're about my size and I just got an 18" 1x1. I've been a bit worried about the fit.

HAH! Been holdin' out on us, huh? So, you've joined the Surly fold!
I really love my CrossCheck, built up with mongrel parts (& some nice ones, too).
But, wooglin, aren't you reaching critical mass, all those bikes you have now? If you want, I'd be happy to help you out & take one or two off your hands. A 3Rensho would look good at my place...

Fat chance GB, but check out the pics at bikemag. Whimsical 1x1 thread. Its art!

I was actually thinking about you earlier today because the person that's painting the bike for me is looking into galleries out in Santa Fe. Figured you might be in the loop and I might pick your brain one of these days. Maybe. We'll see.

It looks good, Wooglin. I like it! I always think it's cool when folks do stuff to their bikes to make 'em unique, sorta like decoratin' the stocks of our Winchesters with brass tacks kinda deal...

I'm out of the loop in the Santa Fe art scene, but I know some who are still in it. Drop me a line & I'll see what I can find.

Soooooo, how'ya gonna build up that Surly? PhilCampySuzePaulFrogLegsChampionFlyer?
Keep us posted.
You know, I think those Surly frames are a screamin' deal for the money. The welds on my CrossCheck are nicer'n the ones on my Bianchi. And yes, the Bianchi's paint chips if you look at it hard. When it gets bad enough, I'll tote her down to the frame shop & get her a few nice coats of Celeste with clearcoat. Flames, too. Fuzzy dice and Moon caps...

Thanks. I'm thinking the kid's gonna love it.

When she starts throwing gallery names around I'll pass them on. Thanks.

Are you kidding? I'm gonna have to strip parts of the Stumpy to get the 1x1 up and running. I have expensive tastes, but I'm cheap as hell, too.

What Bianchi? Who's been holding out on whom? Diggin' the flames/celeste juxtaposition. You'll give the purists a heart attack. FYI, I got the Surly for about $280. You need one. Can't have too many bikes.

Yep, the paint chips off easily on the 2003 SISS. I don't think it has to do with clearcoat, though. I think they just had a problem with the painting process.

PS: I suggest we use more descriptive titles when naming threads. This one, for example, says nothing about the actual subject, eh?
