I'm building up a SS from an older steel frame bike. I wanted to put on newer pedals that have toe-straps, but the threads don't match. Do I need to replace the entire crankset, or are there pedals with different threads that might work. Any info would be helpful--Thanks in advance.

You've got two choices.
Bikes with BMX cranks take one size while bikes with MTB/Road cranks take another.
You can certainly fins another pair of pedals to use, howver you might have trouble finding ones that are compatible with toe straps.
I'd say ditch the toestraps and do it flat pedal! You can learn a whole lot and your riding style improves dramatically. Just be sure to wear shin guards!
