I'm in no need of anger management classes, do you know what I mean, but, the other night, like, this guy tries to make a left turn in my direction. I clearly have the right of way, he clocks me moving towards him, and what does the f****r do but goes for it! I'm only 10 or so feet away from him! He then slams on his brakes when he almost hits me, and I slam on mine. He starts yelling at me from behind his rolled up windows like it was my falt. So, I cough up one from deep down, and I spit it right on the ol' wind shield. I was so upset. Ah, the best reaction yet! I don't want to mess up things for commuters, but people in cars need to wake up while handling a big piece of machinary. Am I right or wrong, morally wrong, I know, but it's not like I threatened violence, or pulled a piece or something. The spur of the moment just cought up with me. I get my bran and fiber and everything, I have a "release" from time to time, but that was the straw, you know what I'm saying, the last one, like.

I hope it was green.
A nice big green loogi!!

I knew a guy that would attach 1 oz. fishing sinkers to his handle-bars with masking tape. when a vehicle pissed him off he's rip off a lead sinker and chuck it at the offending motorist.

You were kind man. When I was working night audit at a hotel the young security guard told me that if you break apart a spark plug the core material (tiny cylindrical metal piece) will shatter safety glass when thrown against it. His brothers are local Mexican gang member and (apparently) this is the preferred method for car prowlers. The method is reported to be noiseless, you can push the broken glass out with your hand and it is virtually impossible to find the little thingys. The things you talk about on nightshift. I've always thought these would be the perfect little weapons for obnoxious cars - if they work.

I think you were right to spit at the guy, but you'd be wrong to do it again. I've done it myself, but now I try to make it a policy that anything I survive gets ridden away from with as few looks back as possible. I think people that make a habit of this needlessly endanger their own lives and needlessly ruin the days of some motorists who may have made an innocent (and understandable) mistake.

I mean, screw it. I'm not going to be territorial. If you want the whole road it's yours. I'll get where I'm going even if I have to let you get there first.

rot-man et. al.

i can completely understand your reactions. just this morning i was cruisin' into work, crossing from a parking lot via the sidewalk into the entry way of the parking lot for my building (i work at a university); this moron cuts me off jus as i am entering the lot. he was talking on his cell phone and eating his breakfast for christ's sake! and attempting to drive a car all at the same time....amazing....my first reaction was to shout a**hole at him, then all i wanted to do was key the paint job on his car.

i think it is good to blow off your steam when it is generated or it'll stew and get worse. just like the other fella said don't do it again...try and let it go. our world is full of idiots and other morons who drive cars and shouldn't be; unfortunately it is getting harder to change things. like my wife says "resistance is futile...";)

honestly i've been constantly promoting the no-agression route for a long time now...you'd be surprised how angry drivers will get if you actually mockingly wave at them rather than show the finger...but anyways, everyone has a line that gets crossed. bike commuting is like a boxing match..you are always being assaulted, and there is only so much you can passively accept. so i hold nothing against you for spitting on a car...that really is minimal...so for my story...

last weekend i rode the hilly 100 in indiana, which is a bike ride consisting of 5000 registered riders, and thousands more. being in the center of bikes and riders wherever i looked was pure heaven, and i felt the culture shock as soon as i returned to commuting on the streets today. so i guess i snapped in a way. i got the typical honk behind me, and then at the light i heard a muffled antagonism. so i roll back and say "is there a problem?"
"you need to get on the sidewalk".
"actually the sidewalk is illegal to ride on, i havea right to the road, don't honk at me".
she says "you're in my lane."
"no, you are in my lane".
her response? "don't **** with my little cousin."
"look, i'm not trying to start shit, but you initiated this conversation, so don't give me shit"
again "you are gonna get ****ed up"
then comes my snap "what?! **** you! don't you dare **** with me! dont **** with me!"
and she takes off with the green light. so at the next light i wait for the door to open, but nothing. then i see the kid with a coke in the front seat getting ready to throw it at me, so i hang at the back of the car. i pull out my u-lock in case it got ugly...the window gets rolled up and they take off. no final climax, which was what i was hoping for...so although nothing came of it, i have no problem "showing drivers what's up" if they want to percieve us as vulnerable. but this certainly shouldn't be the way to go all the time.
