Just finished a weekend with Mark and Lora working on some local trails. What an awesome experience!

Besides being two of the coolest people I've ever met, they really openned my eyes to what all of us average gals and guys can do. I've always thought that I was powerless to participate in the process but being with these two and hearing what they had to say was inspirational.

I know that many riders are not the "joining" type but cruise over to the IMBA site and take a look around. And if they're anywhere within driving distance, go and see their travelling road show. I can't say enough!

I really recommend joining IMBA. It's not much money, and your membership helps make things like the Trail Care Crew possible*.

More importantly, however, joining IMBA gives mountain bikers greater political clout, which is becoming more important every day.

(* while Subaru is the primary sponsor of the Trail Care Crew, there would be no such entity without IMBA, nor would there be an on-staff Trail Care Crew coordinator, etc.)

I've been a trail builder/advocate for about three years, and I was really burned out when Mark and Lora visited us in March. Their ideas and enthusiasm were infectious, by the time they were done with us I had found a renewed sense of purpose and optimism. They are a great folks, funny as hell too. I think Toronto was the last stop for them as the Trail Care Crew, they're moving up to be paid consultants now. Best of luck to them, and to the new crew.

Something like 40 million people mountainbike every year, and around 8 million do so at least once a month, but there are only 30,000 members in IMBA. Why do we always get spanked in land access issues? Because IMBA doesn't get the support it needs from its user group, US. Power comes in numbers. Join IMBA, volunteer, and get involved. Help IMBA help us.

We're lucky up here since both Mark and Lora are from these neck of the woods. They're settling down in Collingwood, home of Blue "Mountain" runt of the Intrawest Empire (Whistler, Mont Tremblant....).

Hopefully their positive vibe with permeate the entire area and we'll all be better for it.

Yep, did Mark and Lora's Pittsburgh trail school right in the backyard. Inspirational to say the least. Finished the weekend with 420 feet of new "Sustainable" trail, ready to ride. Hope to make another trail school soon and learn even more.
