The New England Mountain Bike Association had it's own summit this past weekend. It was 2 days packed with helpful information regarding access. IMBA representatives were on hand to speak about a wide range of issues and NEMBA representatives taught the in's and out's of good management. It also gave us the opportunity to be come familar with each other, learning backgrounds and that vast resourses of expertise that are there for use in all aspects of access.

NEMBA is broken up into 17 Chapters throughout New England and is headed up by Dirt Rags own access guru Philip Keyes. When a big event takes place it gives the chapters the chance to come together but for the most part the chapters do smaller projects on their own.

This leadership summit enlighted many as to different idea's that can be used by all chapters and was a real motivational shot for all that attended. I would recommend every access group in the country to hold their own summit.

Some of the speakers at the summit included IMBA board member and NEMBA member Krisztina Holly, IMBA's Scott Linnenburger, IMBA's Brandon Dwight and several NEMBA members. The highlight of the weekend was the keynote address and it came from someone that we all need to say thank you to for his many years fighting for access throughout the country, retiring IMBA board member Jim Hasenauer. I believe Jim said he had 18 years in as an advocate in out sport and is also one on the founders of IMBA. Thank you Jim!
