and i have to say it was nice. i've been saving up for a new bike, and thougnt i had it all figured out, untill i road a ss. it was an awesome ridgid independant fabrication. real nice. nimble (although thats just the frame, not ss) i've gotten to ride it on two group rides when the owner has swapped bikes for a few minutes. how many of you race the ss? i really am looking forward to another ride on this one. iim now living in doubt on wheter or not to go geared or ss.

Redline Monocog. Frame and fork. $115 at jensonusa.com I believe. Knock yourself out.

I have a steel Yeti that is my SS. I love riding it, and probably use it every other ride. It's reall nice when you're out with a bunch of other riders and keep up with them or even pass them up sometimes. Then they look at your bike at the end of the ride and go "Oh, I didn't know you had a single speed" with a dumb-founded look on their faces.
Do yourself a favor... If you do get one, stay with a rigid fork. It'll make you a better rider when (and if) you go back to a suspended bike. Riding rigid teaches you to pick better lines on the trail and how to use your body as suspension. You'll notice how much smoother you get!

yeah my first mtb expieriences were on a ridgid fork (suspension was only on the really nice bikes back then) i like ridgid. i wanna get a real nice steel frame, and if i end up getting gears, i'd buy somthing equilvelant to a redline, cheap but good enough. the ss is really fun though
