Hey FORUM RAGGERS!

I have a friend that lives down in Central Florida, working for NASA, and since he works so damn much, he hasn't found the time to locate the good trails. Consequently, he's been neglecting himself of the pleasure!

Does anyone know of the best places to go in central Florida?

Ocala National Forest. Actual hills and roots galore. Hope he likes cleaning sand out of his drivetrain.

Tell your buddy to go to rogersunderland.com. Here you will find all Florida trails listed by city, and many have maps. We are trail-starved in central Florida, so he'll have to drive a while. As it is, the best trails are in the Ocala National Forest, with Santos being the flagship.

You'd be suprised by the quality and quantity of trails in FL.

The majority happens in and around Ocala due to the local geography. There are 3 good trails w/in 30 mins of one another. Not include the Nat'l Forest already mentioned. To me the ONF is pretty boring. If you want some decent singletrack that's tight and technical check out Santos Trail in Belleview (S of Ocala) and Hard Rock and Razorback just N of Ocala. Get directions at www.omba.org

For trails near Tampa and Lakeland including Carter Road in Mulberry, the TOE just S of Tampa, Alafia S of Brandon, Morris Bride in Tampa, check out www.ridgeriders.net or www.swampclub.org.

If you on the west coast near Sarasota go to www.northporttrails.org

If you're in S FL there are some sweet trails: Quiet Waters, Oleta State Park, Markam Park find them at www.freeridesouth.com

BTW, there is a Fat tire festival being held at Alafia State Park the weekend of Nov. 15, 16 & 17. I'm going! Get info at www.swampclub.org.
