do you have a website, I am new to the salt lake city area . I would like to check out your mag. Biking is huge out here but the community is very loosely organized. I am from Md originally and we seemed to be smaller groups but better organized. Maybe your mag out here would help

ride the world,

i don't have a website up, although that idea has been stewing in my mind for a bit now. my zine is hardcopy and i feel that web zines only take away from a lot of the aesthetic and appeal of a hardcopy zine. anyways, the website would be a supplement to the zine in that it would include articles from past issues that no one can get anymore, as well as a forum (such as this). it's all a matter of time.

i dont know if leapfrog can breath any life into your community there. hell, it can't even do that here. it's just a modest little zine. no plans to overthrow the world here....well ok, maybe a few.

to give you some more info on the zine..this is some of the past content:

critical mass documentations
biking and feminism
winter mtb racing
wet weather mtb racting
columns
zine and book reviews
interviews with....
break the gridlock
author travis culley
matt chester (next issue)
etc. etc. etc.

obviously in six issues of leapfrog, there is a lot more past content than that. so if you are interested, email me your address and ill mail the next issue out. thanks for the interest

Scott, It is unbelievably tacky to introduce your publication on someone else's web site. They work very hard at what they do at Dirt Rag and there's great expense in running their business. You will understand this some day, when it happens to you. Ellen

ellen,

i know you posted that out of naivety regarding the relationship between me and the dirt rag staff. you'd have to see my zine to understand that i am no threat to dirt rag, and i believe we mutually support and encourage each others publication. they have used some of my past content in D.R. and i have plugged them in my zine and others whenever i can. both of us put out publications for our joy of riding, and not profit motives, therefore it's not necessarily tacky to clue people in to what i create.

Thanks for the support, Ellen, but Scott summed it up pretty good. Zines like Leapfrog, Cars R Coffins, The Outcast, and many others fill an even smaller niche than DR. We support them.

Our real competition is with the bigger mags for ad dollars, so support our advertisers!
