I just recieved trek bicycle's new products book for 2004. under the section for wtb 29" tires is a 2.3" tire listed as the ExiWolf. the thing looks killer. this is the first picture and hard info i've seen of the tire, and any trek or fisher dealer should be able to at least give you a look at them. i'm sure other wholesalers such as quality bicycle products will have them in their '05 catalog, but again, they do exist. check them out a trek dealer near you. they look awesome, i can't wait to get a pair. i have them on an email availability list, and i'll let you know as soon as they're available.

the tred pattern is almost identical to that of the EpicWolf, only in a 55/50 x 29" profile check it out

Bontrager also has a new version of it's ACX tire out next year called the Jones XR 29ER this is a front and rear specific tire with a 2.25 fron and 2.20 rear. It is the 29" version of the tires that come stock on '05 Tassajara's and the like. Should make a really nice race tire with very little rolling resistance, all while having huge air volume for you rigid riders out there!

Please, no more teasing...
Do you have a scanner at home, by any chance?

I can't wait for the XR's, I hope they're really fast! Most 29" tires have excessive grip in turns, when riding in groups of 26" riders, you can't really push, all you do is wait in corners and accelerate along. Some extra pure speed is more than welcome for my racing :-)

I know what you mean, I'm running Bont. ACX's right now. They're a great all around, multi-condition tire, but on my XC fisher, i ride mostly fast hardpack. The difference in rolling resistance is going to be great. Even with the ACX's my bike is hella fast, it's going to be awesome with the racier tires. Mine is rigid, so it'll be nice ot have a little larger air volume with it.

i have scanned the catalog as a jpeg file. how do i get it in here so you can view it?

Sorry to off topic here, but Ben, what shop did you end up buying? Still in Northfield?

wooglin: the tires are in stock from qbp, (quality bicycle products.) they got a bunch, go to your local shop and get a pair. they look killer.

unclefuzzy: i bought a shop in faribault, minnesota that was called The Village Pedaler. I have since renamed the shop Milltown Cycles. if you do a dealer search on any of trek's websites you can see where i am

keep the faith!

Cool. I know that shop. Kind of. My brother and sister in law live in Faribault. I'll have to stop by next time i'm in town.

yeah, that'd be awesome! there is a serious lack of real mtb riders in this area, it'd be great to have someone to actually talk to about fun stuff. stop in next time you're in town, i'll buy you a cup of coffee.

on a side note, i just got in a pair of the exi wolfs, everyone might need a pair, they're that cool.
