I have a pair of nukeproof warhead wheels that the one bearing seized on this weekend. I know that a LBS charges a lot for a simple bearing, but does anybody know of a bearings store online or anything where I could order just one? is this possible?
nukeproof my ass.

I have a bum nukeproof hub as well, this would be nice to know. When I went to the LBS to get it fixed, they couldn't figure out what bearings they needed. A Google search was equally fruitless. Luckily, I was aware of their reputation and traded a mechanic friend of mine a broken Klein frame for them (he was able to get it warrantied for the third time). But, they're light as hell when they work.

as far as i can tell they are the same front and rear. It was the front that died, but it was on my single speed, so i just have the back wheel sitting idle for now, so i just took a rear bearing, but that makes a really nice wheen unrideable. im going to contact them and see what they say.
I am not sure what you consider cheap, but I have been swapping out bearings in Nukeproof Hubs for as little a $7 / bearing. And if they wanted the high end maybe $12-$15/ bearing. And I can get them fast, usually 2 days. If you ride in wet, muddy conditions, buy cheap and just change them more often.
Cartridge bearings are easy to get. If you can read the number on the side, your local bike shop should be able to order them up. If they can't, then the local auto parts dealer ought to be able to score you some.
The bicycle industry did not create new standards for cartridge bearings. I don't think they could have. I saw a bearing book at a bearing supply place that was as thick as a New York phone book. And the guy behind the counter told me he had at least 5 more like it. You can get at least 10 different types of 6000 series bearings for hubs. You can also get bearings that cost over $100 apeice. The sky's the limit when it comes to cartridge bearings.

crum is right. Any shop that has QBP or BTI accounts can get 6000 series bearings (and enduro-max, which are 8000 series that fill applications for the 6k's). I've gotten pairs of 6k's for about 9 bucks, and for 12 you can get a pair of ok quality.
OR (massive plug here!)
use it as an excuse to get new wheels! new wheels! new wheels!

hello everyone,
i had the same problem w/an earlier nukes, i went to a local bearing distributor and purchased the needed replacement. the key is to get a swiss made bearing, do not get the taiwanese brand. the european made bearings seem ti have a better tolerance and a tougher bearing. if i recall the bearing part # was R944A or something. you may also visit the michigan mtb website. nukeproof was from michigan and most of the locals may be able to get incontact with past nukeproof employee.

As everybody seems to be getting through, bearings are fairly standard.
Two good quality brands that cover most sizes are SKF and FAG. Here in Sweden they both have shops just for bearings, I guess in the states you'll have even more.
Of interest to the shop is the inner and outer diameters and the height. After which you can discuss the level of quality, sealing, contact area and direction etc. etc.
6000 series is more than adequate for bikes.
Here is a place that has come through for me.

:D
If you do not see it online just call them. You will need to give them the size ID and OD and width. And grade.
Good Luck!
