Anyone notice that the Karate monkey has a lower than normal BB hieght? I have noticed that I have to be much more cautious of hitting my pedals in all sorts of tecnical sections. Yes, I am running 180mm cranks but thats less than 1/4 inch longer. I run 180s on my 26" SS and never noticed much of a clearence problem. ANy one have any ideas on this or now the BB hieght?

I know exactly what you mean. I run 175s on my Monkey and tend to smack my pedals more than when I'm riding a 26-inch rig. Never really thought about it until I read your post.
If I can remember correctly, the BB height on my Cannondale hardtail is a smidge taller than my Monkey. I suppose running 180s would slightly exxagerate the problem? The guys at Surly can probably give you a good explanation.

Stock 29"ers all have between 74mm and 50mm of BB drop, the KM has 68mm, on the low side, but nothing out of the ordinary compared to standard 26"ers.
Low BB = stable on DH's, fast cornering
High BB = more twitchy, high COG, more endo and wheely prone.
Cannondale has always had tall BBs, what ever happened to just riding your bike and not giving a shit?
