I bought a rock shox psylo xc in 2001, i think it was the second year that they made one. Itis the silver one. Anyway, it lasted me a whopping 9 months before i blew out the dampener as well as the complete lower leg assembly. This was awhile ago, and at the time rock shox was bought buy sram and i was given the complete run around by their customer service dept. My shop was unable to attain the parts needed, so I up and sprung for a marzochi.
This was an excellent decision, and i don't think that i would ever go back. The marzochi feels much stiffer and buttery smooth.
What I want to know is, can i fix the psylo ? would it be affordable ? Is it even worth it ?
I would really like to get it runnin again and maybe put it on a ss, but thus far have had no luck in my quest.
Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

That sounds peculiar...
RockShox not helping you out and parts unavailable for a less than a year old shock. Something's not right.
I suggest either taking it back to the place you bought it or calling rockShox again, direct. Someone WILL have parts for it.
RockShox# is:800.677.7177
SRAM # is: 800.346.2928
And while I don't know how much you paid for it or how much the repair will cost, if I were in your place, I'd fix it and either sell it or save it for a rainy day. you never know when a nice frame will come your way or when the Marzocchi will have to be in the shop for an extended period of time.
Good luck

Thanx for the prompt response mike, as well as the info. I am going to try and contact rock shox again and see what happens.

The '02 psylo apparently got better.
If you don't want to do the work yourself, try Angryasian.com. I don't know if he is still doing fork repairs, but it used to be a good place for suspension info.
Otherwise, yeah, what Browne said.

Hi Mattttt!
Is that enough "Ts"?
What do you mean about the lower legs?
I know of two types of failures on the '01 Psylo lower legs:
1. The bushings develop play quickly. Fix this by replacing with the longer '02 bushings. Any RS dealer should be equipped for this...or else what are they doing selling them?
2. I have seen one occaision of the left lower leg shearing off above the disc mount. This was handled as a warranty, even though the rider admitted being a little hard on his kit! ( this also damaged the spring lay shaft).
As for the damper being damaged, that's new! The XC was a modified hydracoil, pretty solid. I've yet to see one of these beyond repair.
I don't know about the parts supply system in the USA, but here in europe we usually have problems from all manufacturers. Spare parts coming late or never etc. but RS have always been "on the ball". Try again with RS and your local shop, try another local shop if you're still having probs.
Good luck, and don't hesitate to contact with more info - I've got reasonable contacts over the pond, maybe we can go the back route.

Thanx for all the info. I'm working on it currently and I think that speedgoat might be my answer...both for getting the parts and the re-assembly. Those guys seem to know what they're doing. Not to dis my local shop, but after all they are the ones who told me that there was nothing they could do.
