Theres something about riding somewhere and running out of water before you can drink it, in the form of a solid block of water, or when your derailleur gets full of slush and ice and you cant shift right if at all. So im asking, whats the lowest temp youve rode in? ive done mid 20's

I commuted in an 8 degree morning temp the other day. I wore an extra layer on top and a set of liner gloves and was fine.

Michael Browne and I rode in on Wednesday, when it was 13 degrees out with a reported 1 degree after wind chill. The kicker is, we took the singletrack route- making our normally 40-minute commute about 2 hours. Wasn't too bad, aside from my toes.
I do mid-20s fairly regularly now... man, it's cold here.

it's been in the single digits out here in indiana, but the coldest was two winters ago when it was in the single digits and a wind chill of something like -15. the newscasters were saying it was even "dangerous" to be outside...so of course i got on my bike and rode to work just to show em what's up.

Ah yes, i remember that winter now. That was the first time i had a taste of the greatness of winter riding. That was when i decided to ride to Galveston to stay with a friend, 18 miles away from home. the worst part of the ride was i decided to take a country road that had a big school thinking the road would be more clear because of all the travel., i couldnt have been more wrong. about 2 miles of that took me a good 40 minutes, it was sobad i had to get off the bike when a single car would try to pass. my derailleur froze and i only had like 4 gears out of 18, i had no brakes, and my moustache and goutee was a frozen work of art.
long live memorable rides!!

Cold?...cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey! ( interesting history to that expression)
Are the temperatures quoted in Faranheit or Celcius?
We get it quite cold over here in Sweden, i've had a few one hour commutes at -30 Celcius this year. That's usually enough to hurt when you breathe. And if your holding up a good steady 25 kph. that corresponds to about -55 C with wind chill. Not forgetting that your feet are moving faster through the air, which is why your toes are always cold ( I recommend shimano winter shoes and Gore quilted overshoes).
One of my bike courier customers is off sick with frost-bite, at lunch time it was about -25 C. But these guys are not well at the best of times, who in their right mind cycles all day at these temperatures?

What, this week?
Air temp was -3F on my way home from my buddy's house last night. Cold as I go is as cold as it gets.

my coldest ride would probably be two weekends ago in 13F weather, but today was pretty cold as well, it didn't take my hands long to get painfully numb/cold. course i was wearing summer gloves cause i gave my winter one's to my best friend cause i didn't have money to buy presents. the cold hand's were so bad though, they just gave me an excuse to stop in at the coffee shop and get a Chai with a shot of esspresso, it's been quite a while since i've had one of those :) very tasty indeed.

9 degrees plus the wind chill. It was just a breeze really. The good thing is it was so cold, there was no snow or mud to gunk up the drivetrain. Everything was frozen solid. I can only stay out about an hour before I start losing feeling in my hands and feet.

Here in Marquette Michigan my daily commute has been at about -2.
You got the Vierling (sp?)at the end of the day though, so it's all good.
My brother and I stopped there after a day of epic riding (and more walking over Yer Mom than I like to admit to...) and it was the shizznit. Your town kicks ass and I can't wait to go back.

Good to hear the good will about Marquette (MQT)!! And yes the Veirling goes a long way toward warm fuzzies.
You know the funny thing about Your Mom, I checked the Trail reviews section on MTBR and noticed no one had reviewed that trail yet. I couldn't believe it. I put one on there but am wondering if I broke some unwritten rule of silence.
Take care and rest assured that I too have been beaten to a pulp by Your Mom;)
