Ahhh.... Springtime on the way and a young Bike Geeks dreams turn to Dual Suspension Fancy. I've been stashing away cashola in my toolbox all winter and now I want to magically turn that wad of bills into a Supa-Badass Free ride machina! I've been looking at the following bikes:

Specialized Big Hit
Kona Dawg
Norco Launch VPS
San Andreas
Cove G-spot
Cove Hooker

I want to drop off the top of my house, I want run over cars that have Sierra Club stickers on their windows, I want to side kick Ford Excursions and leave massive body damage, I want to hurl myself through the air while flipping off the cameras.... I really want a bike that has a low stand over height as I am rather a short guy at 5'7"

Any real world advice from dually owners would be nice....

Hey, I really wish that i had the flow to drop on a sweet downhill mochine, but I don't , I ride a beefed up hardtail. As far as xc goes I would never want a fs... maybe when I am older, however there is no fun like what can be had on a big rig.

I know several specialized big-hit owners, these bikes are sweet, relatively inexpensive. Parts...no problem, I even know someone who broke the chainstay piece and specialized was very prompt about warrantying it.

BUT... if "I" had the cash to drop on one of these I would definately go with a cove or a norco. You will be the coolest dude in your hood.

I had a San Andreas that I just sold last year. It took quite a beating. The stock shock SUCKS! If you get one, upgrade the shock pronto. It makes all the difference. I had a Romic coil-over in 4.5" travel mode. The thing I loved about the San Andreas was the adjustability. You can mess with head angle, seat angle, top tube length, and travel. It alos has a replaceable derailleur hanger, and all cables run full-length housing to kee things smooth and muck-free. They look good too. I got stopped all the time when I rode it. Kind of a pain sometimes.
What sold me on it was the durability. I saw a guy in California who had one with a gash in the frame. I mean it was a hole! He wiped out and the frame landed on a pointed rock. He was riding it a year after that happened when I saw him. That's impressive.
