View Full Version : One cold Mutha.......
Mother Nature is truly dishing out the nasty. Still, as much of a beeeaaaaatch as she might be at the moment, there's something invigorating about riding downhill while -15 degree winds find all the kinks in the armour that is your Nylon chainmail of survival. As for riding itself, as stated in the past -15 feels the same as 18 degrees, cold as! Who's house?, Run's House!

Max, my hat's off to you. I commuted 4 days the first week of the year and tapered down as the temperature dropped each subsequent week. The morning rides are allright, but the last few 10 mile, 10° rides home at 8pm with snow flurries really wore on me. Anyhow... Although I didn't commute at all this week, I've been taking a daily break from deadline activities to grunt through Hartwood and talk to the deer... not that they say much back.

Commuted to school with a -5 windchill and a 7 degree temperature. I've given myself the rest of the week off. I've never been as drained after the commute as that, even when I was sick! It wasn't really being cold, it was the "I'm outside in the cold, therefore I am cold" mindset that led to my unfortunate demise. I also notice that the sweat on the outside of my polarfleece middle layer had begun to freeze. Gnarly!
Mr. Guerrero! How are you brother? Yeah, Deer just get frightened at the sight of one insane mofo trapsing through the woods on a test bike dually. Are you still sporting that Rocky Mt. ride? The weather has been killer for snowboarding but painful on my Bridgestone commuter. The MB6 has salt stains all over, and I can't bring myself to handle a hose in this weather. My hand might freeze to the nozzle.

Speaking of freezing to nozzles, I made the mistake of putting my presta adapter (that usually acts as one of my presta caps) in my mouth as I was airing my tires yesterday. That hurt some reaching up to grab that thing to slap it on the other tire.
I deserved it though.

Yeah, or when yourbreath freezes in your goutee, or moustachs, or when you forget to bring in your water bottles and they are solid rocks.
Or when you go bungee jumping with piano wire wrapped around your nether region,..........oops, wrong forum.

I finally got out to 7-Springs for my second official snowboarding excursion... needless to say I'm sore as all get out. I think I could be a pretty good snowboarder if I got to do it several times a week for a season or two...
When are ya workin', Max? I'll have to stop down and have a beer (or three).
