It slushed yesterday so I put a full rear fender on my fixie road bike.

Is that hot or what? Now I'm contemplating ditching the front brake and replacing it with a fender as well.

Yeah, full fenders rock the house. All the roads round these parts have a coating of packed snow and mushing vehicle droppings. Right now, I driving some sheet metal screws into some tires to get that extra grip.
No brake? You nut! Only crazies like me don't run any brakes (because we gave 'em to our friends ;) )
Ride on, don't freeze into a solid chunk of Ice-ra

Can't tell if you've got one of those splash guard jobbies on the down tube. If not, its worth a shot. A milk jug and zip ties, and you're done.

They go together like chips and dip.
Just a little pic of my hacked up fender for my steamroller.

Why not leave the brake and put on a fender? If a brake cannot fit under the brake that could be an issue, maybe you could get some longer reech brakes like my commuter

Actually I got a set of brand new Tektro 521 Long Reech brakes I keep meaning to post under the Marketplace.

The fenders I have are wide, like for a mtb. Brakes fitting = snowball's chance in hell. I am haxoring this thing together for now. The milkjug splashguard sounds about right. Raymo853, your bike looks nice.

This is a stupid solution, I know, but I just wear a pair of rain pants. I bought two fenders last year (those cheap-ass plastic ones that clip to the seat post) and broke them both, so I just gave up on them and put the pants on.
The pants aren't bad unless you have to wear jeans under them, in which case they become way too hot. They also get sort of eroded by the crud on the road. I think I'm about to buy a good set of full fenders.
You do, however, get to refer to something as "the pants," which hasn't been something I've been able to do in the past.

Today I saw a couple of people with rainpants biking toward me as i stepped out of a store. The first thing that went through my mind was, "Oh sh!t, firemen on bicycles!"

I bike a lot more than i punk rock, but you've gotta stay true to your roots. Where the heck is Barren Indiana?

lol, barren wasnt meant as a noun. my biking turf lies between kokomo logansport and burlington. not much punk activity in my parts, not much biking either, other than poor people on clunkers commuting and the local bike club people who drive their bikes to the meeting place and then ride.
