Recently, I had the opportunity to read Sheldon Browns' article on wheelbuilding. In his procedure it states that on a derailluer wheel, that the trailing spokes should run upward along the inside of the hub flange. I have found this to be true only on the wheel my bike shop built for me. All the production wheels I have looked at, the trailing spokes run up along the outside of the hub flange. Sheldon states three reasons why they should run up on the inside. So why don,t the larger, mass producing companies do it this way? It does'nt appear to be a more difficult procedure either way.
