I am just wondering if anybody has encountered the Chris King singlespeed cogs, and what your opinion is of them. I have run into a few sites which proclaim that you can use them to make a SS out of your standard shimano cassette hubs, but they appear to have a different spline pattern than our 8/9 speed japanese buddies. Thanks,

Pedro

Don't know about the splines. The advantage of King cogs is you can use them with a CK freehub. Most other cogs are too narrow and will tear it up. For Shimano freehubs a Shimano DX cog with spacers works great.

Yes. King Cogs do fit Shimano freehubs. Shimano does have one key spline that is wider so the shifting ramps line up. The King Cog does not have this wider spline, but it doesen't need to - a narrow spline fits in the wide slot in the freehub just fine. DX or Novatech will fit too - just don't use them on aluminum freehubs.
