Ah, Koerper and I just took a nice, relaxing, muddy ride and it felt amazingly good to put the singlespeed's tires back on dirt (since converting my GT there's been at least 4 inches of snow on the trail every time I've went). When I got back I was happy to find a Surly (http://www.surlybikes.com) rigid disc fork with my name on it. Time to break out the hacksaw and locate that spare star-fangled-nut!
Slap a big 'ol Gazzi 3.0 on there and you're good to go! :D

good deal. Those forks are tanks, but they still have most suspension forks beat out on the weight. Plus its black. Are you running the disc version?

Yep, I'm running the disc version. You're right, Andy, it's not real light at 2.5 lbs. Whatever weight I lost by going rigid came back in the form of 2.5" Michelin's.

Yeah, but any 2.5" tire weighs more then a happy hog. My motoraptors are claimed somewhere in the 880 gram nieghborhood, and that is for the race version. but oh so squishy! 2.4s were great in Moab on
my instigator, and I might get another set for the single. Hows the tread on those michelins hooking up?

last suspended ride two weeks ago on ye olde 1x1. after bending the original rigid that came with i used and abused a friends judy 100 till it was weazing and spitting, next came a 5 or 6 lb marzocchi z1 from 1999 which i promptly crushed the hell out of after two rebuilds. unfortunately no discs for me, money being an issue, a fork is one thing but new brakes?...anyway try kendas 2.6 downhill make, got em a pedros for a steal, they hook the crook and bend the switchbacks straight, also got a lot squish if you let a little air out...happy s s ing!
