NWOKCBR you make a decision yet? Inquiring minds want to know!
Seriously, i think the best advice you received here (beyond the technical knowledge imparted by Rocky) was to find a LBS that fits with you.
There are 3 bike shops in my hometown, I visited all three before I bought my first mtb in 04, and bought from the shop that had the coolest, most knowledgeable staff. I bought a Specialized, and just ordered my 3rd (first was stolen when it was 9 months old) and I love my Stumpjumper, but that's not as important to my riding experience (over one of the other quality bikes I could have purchased) as the great service and advice I get when I'm in the shop!
