I've had a pretty dang good year.
- Added almost 10 miles of trail so far and added several new members to the crew.
- Got to take a group fo boyscouts out for some trail riding followed by camping.
- Finally bought a good light set for night rides, no more borrowing
- got through the year without serious injury. the poisen ivy I got this year didn't require a doctor visit
I think all in all it kicked a$$. I'd like to do a little more traveling next year but I've got a little more motivation for that with the new 6x6.

Wow - your photo really makes me miss the rolling hills of Pennsylvania! Where was this photo taken?

I smiled alot... and denied the urgent care medical practitioners any coin! I also swore off keeping time on my rides.... or distances. I just keep going.... until I have had enough. My body, is a good barometer for telling me when to say when. It will be a cold day in hell, that I allow a binary gadget to validate, or justify whether or not my time was productive... just look at my smile, the answer lies therein.

Pretty cool stuff, folks. I had a really fun year on the bike in '09, with lots of ups and only a few downs. The ups:
  • Rode a personal record 6,000-plus off-road miles
  • Ticked off another "destination" ride in September at Bootleg Canyon in Boulder City, NV.
  • Finished second in my first solo 24 hour race in Wisconsin
  • Hit the Allegrippis Trail system for a camp out and ride vacation in October
  • Rode 11 separate off-road centuries

The downs:
  • Caught Lyme Disease a month before my 24 hour race and spent two weeks wondering if my body would recover at all much less in time.
  • Had to replace half the components on my enduro bike after a race in the rainiest, muddiest conditions I've ever experienced

So not too much bad! For '10, I'm still planning my season as far as races/events go, but I'm also doing my first bottoms-up build for my new SS, and trtying to find time to ride the '96 Olympic course at Conyers when I'm in Ga in the spring for a conference. Can't wait!
