Favorite Sites, cycling Blogs

I’ve been in a contemplative state of mind about the love I have for bikes, and riding. It's crazy how after riding(and working in bike shops) for 10 years, with dozens of crashes and injuries, I'm still obsessed with riding a bike. How many of you just love riding so much you can’t stop thinking about it? Do you ever call your old riding buddies and old friends and just talk about your new set up, and killer rides and riding?

I'm sure many, if not most of you, feel this way. It's probably why you like Dirt Rag so much, cause they feel it too. When do you take it to the next level and start writing about it? Maybe even keep a blog? (blogs are the big thing these days- like that chick that got “deuced” - sorry random tangent) Do you have a ton of cycling related bookmarks on your computer?

What are your favorite bike websites? Blogs? Forums? I have a friend whose home page is drunkcyclist.com. Don’t act like you don’t know it, and love it. And maybe it gets you in trouble with your lady too, when she sees it in your history. I feel your pain.

Personally, I have a handles and passwords for several. RideMonkey, Pink Bike, MTBR, MSDHW, and of course Dirt Rag.

I'd like to hear from others on this.

Here are the ones I check the most:

www.drunkcyclist.com
http://www.dirtragmag.com - duh
www.leelikesbikes.com
www.pinkbike.com
www.mbaction.com
http://www.modestbike.com/
http://alloutpro.com - my buddy's page, I'm helping him with
http://www.msdhw.com - local board
http://www.ogrehut.com - Bay Area Trails I still need to get out and experiance

and shameless plug for mine:
http://www.ihatebikes.net

I find more all the time.

anyone else?

Well, let's see-63XC, A Fixed Gear Gallery, Singlespeed Outlaw, Cars-R-Coffins, Sheldon Brown (required reading, Sheldon's articles) and of course, my beloved Rag.

Oh, and ABSSS. They've been "closed for repairs" or some such for -what? six months?-but they have links to all kinds of cool sites that I drop in on from time to time, including Drunk Cyclist.

Next.

Hey, great start, I'm going through and bookmarking a bunch of these for a rainy day. It's pretty sweet to know that there are so many out there riding and sharing the love.

Anyone else?

Here are a few I check out pretty regularly.

My friend Michael Rasmussen has an ongoing blog about his bike commuting at:

http://meme.patch.com/memes/BicycleRiding

The iBOB and Touring lists have too much volume to subscribe to via mail but I browse the archives at:

http://search.bikelist.org/

You can subscribe to these lists and then take the option to have mail delivery turned off. This will let you post to these lists but not flood your mailbox with postings. Both lists also have a
digest option.

My own webpage at:

http://www.mile43.com/peterson/rando.html

is updated less frequently than a blog but it's kind of bloggish. It chronicles my adventures in long distance cycling and has some stories, photos and a few how-to articles.

And I have to echo the previous votes for Matt Chester's blog. Matt's got some good stuff there.

Since I work in the industry my morning "sit down at the desk with coffee ritual" consists of this as "research":

www.bicycleretailer.com
www.velonews.com
www.cyclingnews.com
www.procycling.com
www.pezcyclingnews.com

www.fixedgeargallery.com - This one is for inspiration to get me through to lunch.

Then I stay logged into the Dirt Rag forums all afternoon and check it regularly!
