Spike Jones Was a BMXer

It's true. The director of such films as Adaptation and Being John Malkovich has roots in bicycles. I was even a memeber of Club Homeboy, a club in which Mr. Jones was a founder, back in the mid-80's. But that's not my point here.

I recently saw a "Spike Jones Was a BMXer" sticker slapped on a newspaper box here in Philly. I've looked and asked, but haven't been able to find the source of these stickers.

Anyone have any info for me? Where can I get some? Better yet...if you send me some, I'll make it worth your while...

Haven't seen the stickers here in the windy city, but did you'se know that Spike Jonze is one of the people responsible for bringing bmx and skate to the level it is today? He shot for Mat Hoffman, Brian Blyther, Jay Miron, the Bones Brigade, and many others. I think he had somethin' to do with the Animal Chin and Dorkin' videos as well. Oh yeah, he brought us Jackass too.

That's funny, I thought I was one of the few people who knew that. He rode and worked for a local shop called Rockville BMX back in the day. Then moved on to Freestylin' magazine.

Haven't seen the stickers though.

Interesting read about such things here

Freestylin magazine was one of the first places I saw references to both bike and skateboard culture. I was a BMXer at the time but that mag inspired me to pick up a board for the duration of my high school life. I still remember the slappy grind how to— it was shot by Spike Jonze and performed by his partner Mark Lewman, who was last seen (by me) as the second writer to Matt Hoffman's Biography, The Ride of My Life.
I have no idea about the stickers, but it was nice to reminisce there for a minute.
