Granny Gear Productions announced that its 24 Hour National Point Series will be back for a third consecutive year in 2008, with Suzuki Automotive roaring into the title sponsor's slot. The Suzuki 24 Hour National Point Series will be contested in a six-race series, with events in California, Georgia, West Virginia, Vermont, Missouri and Utah.

"I think it is important for the whole sport of mountain biking that a title sponsor has come on board. But this is not just a vote for mountain biking, Suzuki Automotive sees where the 24 Hour Series is going and wants to be part of creating something great," said Granny Gear president Laird Knight.

Knight points out that, in addition to ensuring the on-going success of the series, title sponsorship gives him the wherewithal to provide perks for the participants: "We also want to take care of people better and provide a little more social time by catering an awards banquet, free to racers, at the end of each event. Community is such an important part of this sport and there's nothing more enjoyable than sitting down and sharing a meal with a couple of hundred of your best friends after a long, hard ride. So, wherever logistics permit, we will host an awards banquet as part of the awards ceremony."

The Suzuki 24 Hour National Point Series give teams the opportunity to compete for an overall point series title for all 22 pro and amateur classes. Granny Gear's exclusive RealTime™ scoring system will track results across multiple events and award points in each class using a NASCAR-style points system. The points system will track a team's best 3 of 6 race scores, with a minimum of 2 races needed to qualify for the series.

The Suzuki 24 Hour National Point Series Schedule:
  • April 26th and 27th: 24 Hours of Vail Lake – Temecula, CA
  • May 17th and 18th: 24 Hours of Conyers – Conyers, GA
  • June 7th and 8th: 24 Hours of Big Bear – Hazelton, WV
  • July 26th and 27th: 24 Hours of Killington – Killington, VT
  • Sept. 20th and 21st: 24 Hours of Landahl – Landahl Park, MO
